Family is a broad term. Family is about love, not numbers. There are families of one and families of many. Family is about celebrating ourselves wherever and however we are in our journey.
We all know that feeling we wish we could stop time, just for a little bit. As adults, we are constantly changing - both physically and emotionally. When we have children and pets, we just wish we could hold them as they were once again. We cherish the moments when our tweens share a glimpse of the adolescent they are becoming, and just as quickly, we are reminded of of the child we have known. We get teary‑eyed when our toddlers become preschoolers, and when our infants become toddlers, and want to bottle that newborn smell.
Sometimes the rhythms of life give us reasons to create milestone memories - births, christenings, communions, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, graduations and engagements. Sometimes, though we get caught up in wanting to wait before capturing these moments. We are planning to have more children, so we want to wait until the family is "complete", or we want to lose a few pounds, or we want to wait for one of the children to be a little older.
We can wait, and then lament that we didn't celebrate the moment that was. Creating family memories on a regular basis creates a rhythm, and gives you a chance to look back and remember how you and your family grew and loved through life. Those memories are now tangible, waiting for you in an album or on the wall; they are waiting to make you remember a great day when you created beautiful moments of yourself and those whom your love.
Every person and every family is unique, so we will take the time to get to know each other before we start creating images. My beautiful two‑acre studio provides a range of indoor and outdoor spaces that you are sure to love, though on‑location sessions are available as well. Bring the whole family to tour the studio!! This is a great time for everyone to get to know me a little bit and explore where we are going to be creating. With younger family members, it helps them get excited about coming back. With people of all ages, it helps them to feel more relaxed than if they walk in cold.
Families are always a chaotic in some way (even when it is a family of one). This is why you are the only client on your day. No one is coming in to force you out. If you need a little extra time, take it! Baby needs a snack, no problem. Toddler needs a little mommy‑time, that is normal. Does your child (or child at heart) have a great idea for a picture? Sure!! This is your family's time. Let's make it a great family memory!
We always have snacks and drinks available, or you can bring your own. Let me know what your favorites are and I can try to have them here. Bring changes of clothing and happy hearts and we will create fantastic memories!
